2026 Master’s Admissions Guide for International Students
Located in Yangling, Shaanxi Province—known as the birthplace of Chinese agricultural civilization and a national agricultural high-tech industry demonstration zone—Northwest A&F University (NWAFU) is directly affiliated with the Ministry of Education of China. It is a key university under the national “Project 985” and “Project 211” initiatives and one of the first universities selected for China’s “Double First-Class” initiative. NWAFU has become one of the country’s leading universities in agriculture, with complete programs covering agriculture, forestry, water resources, and related disciplines.
Most master’s programs are taught in Chinese, while some are available in English. The standard duration of study is 3 years. Students who meet graduation requirements will be awarded a Master’s degree.

II. Application Period
- Self-funded: May 31, 2026
- Chinese Government Scholarship – University Program (Type B): February 28, 2026
- Chinese Government Scholarship – Bilateral Program (Type A): Please consult your country’s dispatching department
Note: Applicants must submit their applications and pay the application fee via the NWAFU International Student Application System before the respective deadline.
III. Application Fee and Tuition
Application Fee: RMB 400 (non-refundable)
Tuition Fees:
Chinese-taught Master’s Programs:
Social Science: RMB 19,500/year
Natural Science: RMB 22,000/year
Chinese-taught Master’s Programs:
RMB 26,000/year
Note:
l Tuition for certain special programs may vary. Please refer to the program list.
l Final tuition fees are subject to confirmation in the Admission Notice.
l Tuition paid by self-funded students is generally non-refundable.
Payment Method:
Please transfer the application and tuition fees to the university's designated bank account and upload a scanned copy of the remittance receipt to the application system. (Be sure to indicate your application number and name in the transfer note.)
IV. Eligibility
1.Be a non-Chinese citizen holding a valid foreign passport;
2.Under 35 years of age;
3.Holder of a Bachelor’s degree;
4.Be in good physical and mental health, with a clean disciplinary and criminal record, and demonstrate a friendly attitude toward China.
l Additional Notes:
l Applicants who were previously Chinese citizens and later acquired foreign nationality must have obtained foreign nationality before April 30, 2022, and have lived abroad for at least two years between April 30, 2022, and April 30, 2026 (at least 9 months per year).
l Applicants who are found to retain Chinese nationality at the time of application or upon admission will have their admission qualification canceled.
V. Required Documents
Applicants must upload clear, scanned copies of the following original or notarized documents through the NWAFU International Student Application System:
1. Application form;
2. Acceptance letter from intended supervisor;
3. Highest diploma or certificate of expected graduation (official diploma must be submitted before enrollment);
4. Complete undergraduate academic transcript;
5. Two letters of recommendation;
6. Research proposal/study plan;
7. Copy of valid passport;
8. Language proficiency certificate;
9. Certificate of non-criminal record;
10. Physical examination report;
11. Academic papers or research achievements (if any).
Notes:
l All documents must be in Chinese or English. Other languages must be accompanied by notarized translations.
l Materials submitted via post or email will not be accepted.
l Ensure that all documents are complete before submission. In principle, supplementary documents are not accepted, but the university reserves the right to request additional materials.
l The application fee must be paid and the payment receipt uploaded in the system.
l Passport information cannot be changed after submission. Any replacement due to special circumstances must be approved by the university.
VI. Selection and Admission
Ø The university will conduct a preliminary review of submitted materials. Qualified applicants will proceed to an interview;
Ø Admission will be based on a comprehensive evaluation of the applicant’s research ability, academic performance, language proficiency, and interview results;
Ø The Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW202) will be sent to the applicant’s email via the system;
Ø Applicants may check their admission status in the application system.
VII. Registration
ü New students are expected to register at NWAFU in late August or early September 2026, as specified in the Admission Notice;
ü Original copies of academic certificates and language proficiency scores must be presented at registration. Failure to do so will result in revocation of admission.
VIII. Medical Insurance
Fee: RMB 800/year
According to Ministry of Education regulations, all international students must purchase comprehensive medical insurance within China. Registration will not be processed without insurance. Detailed instructions will be provided before enrollment.
IX. Accommodation
Students will live in the NWAFU International Student Dormitory, in double rooms.
